On April 1st, the commemorative ceremony for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic flame exhibition was held at J-Village, the national training center which spans across the towns of Naraha and Hirono. Nunomura Yukihiko, Vice-Secretary General of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, passed the lantern-containing the Olympic flame over to Noji Makoto, Director General of the Culture and Sports Bureau,Fukushima Prefecture.

In his opening remarks, Nunomura said, “We have this exhibition in hopes that next year’s Olympic torch relay can kick off from J-Village accompanied by many smiling faces.” Noji then delivered a message from Governor Uchibori stating his belief that “as a light of hope, the Olympic flame that will depart from J-Village next year will be a strong message that we can overcome any difficulty we face, and will illuminate the path of hope for many people.”

The Olympic flame exhibition was cancelled and no longer displayed after April 8th.
